Shervin Haji Aghapour is an Iranian singer-songwriter and composer. Born in Babolsar, he began posting covers to his social media in late 2018. He gained recognition among the younger Iranian generation after auditioning for the television show New Era on March 22, 2019, with the song "Maybe Paradise," which served as his debut single.
Haji Aghapour rose to international fame with the release of his single "Baraye," described as an anthem of the 2022 protests. In 2023, he won the first Grammy Award for Best Song for Social Change at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards for this track.
He is a graduate of economics from the University of Mazandaran. He wrote "Baraye" based on protest tweets to support the people in protest. Following the release of the song, he was detained by the government for a period of time.
